On February 26th 2015, Marcy Markusa visited the GLACIER Facility in Thompson, Manitoba. Markusa is a reporter for the CBC and co-host of the weekday morning radio show on CBC Radio One.
Her article, Northern Manitoba facility to cold-test massive jet engine, recounts the current testing of a state-of-the-art Rolls Royce XWB engine. This gas turbine engine is the largest to date which has been tested at GLACIER and the engine is rated at 97,000 lbs of thrust. GLACIER’s testing program at this time deals with ice and hail management.
